Where to dive in December
Choose Raja Ampat for coral, mantas and wobbegongs. Cabo Pulmo and La Paz offer a different mix: jack schools, bull sharks, sea lions and seasonal whale-shark snorkels. Allow for windy days when planning Baja boat trips.

Raja Ampat
Coral, mantas and reefs full of fish.
Raja Ampat has anthias above soft coral, baitfish under jetties, wobbegongs beneath ledges and mantas at cleaning stations. A Solitude Adventurer cruise director recommended November for the anchovy schools. It is a good month to consider if you want to see the reefs busy with feeding fish.

Cabo Pulmo + La Paz
Jack schools, sea lions and whale-shark snorkels.
Cabo Pulmo has large jack schools, bull sharks and a reef that has benefited from protection. La Paz adds sea lions and seasonal whale-shark encounters. December combines these well, though the whale-shark trips are regulated snorkels, not scuba dives.
